| Title: | But why Iraq and not Isreal? |
|
There are two parts to this answer: when and how.
Regardind "when", I think dealing with Iraq is more pressing than dealing with Isreal because Iraq poses a more global threat by potentially supplying terrorists. Isreal, on the other hand, only poses a threat to the Palestinians, and on a much smaller scale than Iraq. (Isreal's victims number in the thousands, while Iraqi victims number in the millions.) Furthermore, at least there is some kind of plan to deal with Iraq (strong sanctions backed up by the threat of force), while nobody has any clear idea what to do with Isreal.
Regarding "how", the "problems" posed by Iraq and Isreal -- not to mention the "solutions" -- are of very different natures, and thus I see little to be gained by considering them in parallel. They're both big and complex, but in my mind they're mostly unrelated in both problem and solution, and thus don't warrant discussing together. |
