If you're reading at work, you're not working, and so you're not contributing to improving the company's bottom line.
What do you really hope to achieve by encouraging employees to read? And is it really appropriate for all workplaces? I mean, in a knowledge-worker environment, there may be value for the company for employees to learn new technologies or methodologies, but I have a hard time believing a company would want to pay workers to learn about underwater basket weaving or the social lives of the Celts. |
