How It Works
GUIterm is a simple Windows application that communicates with external devices over a COM serial port, much like a normal text-based terminal program. However, instead of exposing users to a terse text interface, GUIterm presents a rich graphical user interface (GUI) to the user, completely controlled by the external device! |
| 1. | Download the GUIterm client and install on your computer. |
| 2. | Plug a GUIterm-enabled device into your computer's serial port. |
| | | — | GUIterm automatically connects to the device. |
| | | — | The device sends simple graphical commands to GUIterm over the serial cable, using the lightweight GUIterm Language. |
| | | — | GUIterm converts these instruction into a rich graphical user interface. |
| 3. | Interact with the application just like you would with other Windows application, using windows, buttons, list-boxes, graphics, and more! |
| | | — | GUIterm sends your responses back to the external device over the serial cable |
| | | — | The external device processes your input, and sends back more GUI commands. |
Just like you currently communicate with external devices using a text-based terminal over a serial cable, now you can communicate with rich graphical user interfaces! |
